Bonnie "Bun" Waverly was the best friend of Eleanor Rougement and Gloria Spofford , school teacher at the Eastwick Elementary School, and also a very powerful witch. Throughout the series Bun exhibited clairvoyant powers, that allowed her to envision and predict future events. As the show progressed, she also showed signs of telepathic abilities, as she was able to hear the inner, secret thoughts of the people around her.

Bun was reading to the local children during the annual Founder’s Day, when three women inadvertently activate their magic by making a wish in the fountain. This event caused red ants to swarm Bun, which sends her into shock and she suffers a stroke as a result, leaving her comatose.
